In order to recognise the eTwinning work done at school level, a new label is now available to apply for – the eTwinning School Label.
The concept of recognition for work done in eTwinning has been in existence since the start with Quality Labels being available to teachers for their projects both at national and European level. However, these labels are applied only to the work of individual teachers in projects. In order to recognise the work done at school level, a new label is now available to apply for – the eTwinning School Label.
The principle behind this new label is that eTwinning wants to recognise and appraise the involvement, commitment, dedication not only of scattered eTwinners, but of teams of teachers and school leaders within the same school.
The concept of attaining the status of an eTwinning School is that of a developmental journey with components that can be objectively assessed. It is not a competition, but rather a progression from one level to the next.
Why apply to receive the eTwinning School Label?
Awarded schools will:
- Have a high visibility at European Level
- Form a European network of eTwinning leading schools to inspire the future development of eTwinning
- Be recognised as leaders in the area of:
- Be able to show their eTwinning School Label in all their promotional and information materials.
Awarded school staff and principals will be invited to become involved in dedicated professional development programmes.
The process for obtaining the eTwinning School Label has two stages.
Stage one is an automatic check of the following three points:
- The school has been registered on eTwinning for more than two years
- There are at least two active eTwinning teachers linked to the school at the time of the application.
- There is a European eTwinning project with a National Quality Label (within the last two years from application date).
If a school fulfils these requirements, all registered eTwinners in the school will receive an email invitation to fill in a self-assessment application form available on eTwinning Live.
Stage two involves completion – by any eTwinner in the school - of the self-assessment application form mentioned above, covering the following six Criteria:
- Criteria A. The school must demonstrate activities that prove teachers’/pupils’ awareness of responsible use of the internet
- Criteria B. The school must demonstrate that there is active collaboration between a group of three or more teachers in eTwinning activities
- Criteria C. The school must demonstrate that at least two groups of pupils in the school are involved in eTwinning projects
- Criteria D. The school must demonstrate that two active eTwinning teachers from the school have participated in one or more eTwinning educational events and their contribution to the strategic development of the school
- Criteria E. The school must publically show its involvement in eTwinning. e.g. By either displaying the eTwinning logo and/or a description of their eTwinning activities on the school website or evidence from a school publicity /policy document or brochure
- Criteria F. The school must demonstrate that an eTwinning promotional activity has taken place within the school or in the local community in the year of the award.
Schools will be asked to provide evidence for the various criteria requested and the final submission must be certified by the School Principal/Manager.
