eTwinning promotes Safer Internet Day 2019

It’s February and it means it’s time for Safer Internet Day! As each year, the cornerstone of online safety events is set to take place in over 140 countries across the globe, on 5 February 2019, under the unifying slogan of “Together for a better internet”.

The annual celebration of Safer Internet Day (SID) aims to raise awareness of both a safer and a better internet, where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. The campaign aims to reach out to children and young people, parents and carers, teachers, educators and social workers, as well as industry, decision makers and politicians, to encourage everyone to play their part in creating a better internet. This will allow each and every user to make the most of all the opportunities new technologies have to offer, regardless of their age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender.

Under the umbrella of Safer Internet Day, eTwinners will be able to participate in a range of events and activities both on the big day itself and throughout the month or even year. Get on board the SID campaign by discovering what is happening in your country by visiting the www.saferinternetday.org/country and reaching out to your national Safer Internet Day Committee.

Check also the Safer Internet Day Facebook page, and Twitter as well as the hashtags #SaferInternetDay, #SID2019 and finally the info-sheet detailing on the campaign.

eTwinners passionate about online safety can join the group Bringing eSafety into eTwinning projects. The group is for all eTwinners using social media in education, especially those who are actively engaged in carrying out eTwinning projects.
